Computer technology is causing revolutionary changes in our culture. Technologies are not neutral tools that can be used for either good or evil - rather, our inventions have built-in consequences because of their very structure. In short, technologies drive particular changes regardless of the desires of their inventors. By embracing and extending computer technology, and in particular computer graphics, we are contributing to the acceleration of a particular kind of change to our society. Although prediction is tricky business, it is important that we try to understand the type of future we may be bringing about. We must examine our technology, attempt to understand its inherent agendas, and ask ourselves if we are creating a world we want to live in. I believe the future we are building will have some advantages, but I'm not sure many of us will want to live there.
